ULTRASOUND UNVEILS SUBTYPES: CONTRASTING FEATURES

Summary

In this prospective study, the researchers aimed to investigate the conventional ultrasound and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) characteristics of different molecular subtypes of breast cancer (BC).

The study included 86 patients with BC categorized into Luminal A (LA), Luminal B (LB), HER2 over-expression (H2), and triple-negative (TN) subtypes. Significant differences were observed in the Adler grade, enhancement speed, enhancement degree, and size after enhancement among the four molecular subtypes (P < 0.05). Additionally, parameters such as wash-in slope (WIS), peak intensity (PI), and wash-in area under the curve (AUC) showed significant differences among the subtypes (P < 0.05).

The diagnostic efficiency of PI was found to be better for detecting LA and H2 subtypes. The study suggests that CEUS can offer valuable imaging information for precise clinical diagnosis and individualized therapy of BC with different molecular subtypes.
