Summary
Traditionally, measuring visceral adipose tissue (VAT), a type of fat linked to various health problems, has relied on sophisticated instruments like MRI scans.
This study explored a simplified method for estimating VAT using more readily available measurements of total subcutaneous fat (SFT) and total body fat (BF).
The method demonstrated excellent reliability when compared to MRI measurements, suggesting its potential as a practical tool for screening individuals at risk of excessive VAT accumulation and associated health complications.
