ABBREVIATED BREAST MRI FOR SUPPLEMENTAL SCREENING IN PATIENTS WITH DENSE BREASTS: COMPARISON OF BASELINE VERSUS SUBSEQUENT-ROUND EXAMINATIONS

This study compared outcomes between baseline and subsequent rounds of abbreviated breast MRI (AB-MRI) screening for individuals with dense breasts and average cancer risk. It found that while the abnormal interpretation rate (AIR) was significantly lower in subsequent rounds (7.8%) compared to baseline (17.4%), the cancer detection rate (CDR) remained high, with all detected cancers being early-stage and node-negative. These results support the use of sequential AB-MRI for supplemental screening, though further research is needed to refine screening intervals.
