ACCURACY OF LUNG ULTRASOUND FOR THE DIAGNOSIS OF CONSOLIDATIONS WHEN COMPARED TO CHEST COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY

This study evaluated the accuracy of lung ultrasound (LUS) for diagnosing lung consolidations in patients with unexplained respiratory symptoms in the emergency department, compared to chest CT. The study found that LUS had a high sensitivity and specificity, particularly in patients with pleuritic chest pain. LUS was also more sensitive than chest radiography (CXR) for detecting lung consolidations, making it a reliable bedside diagnostic tool for respiratory complaints.
