ADJUSTABLE-TIP VS FIXED-TIP NEEDLES IN RFA FOR BENIGN THYROID NODULES: ITALIAN STUDY

In this retrospective study, outcomes of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for benign thyroid nodules were compared between the adjustable-tip needle (ATN) and fixed-needle (FTN) techniques in 36 patients. Both approaches showed similar results over 6 months of follow-up, with no significant differences in volume reduction, volume reduction rate (VRR), or success rates (defined as ≥50% reduction). ATN was noted for its ease of use, potentially facilitating a shorter learning curve for operators, although patient satisfaction and safety outcomes were comparable between the two techniques.
