ASSOCIATION BETWEEN MR ELASTOGRAPHY LIVER STIFFNESS AND HISTOLOGIC LIVER FIBROSIS IN CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS WITH AUTOIMMUNE LIVER DISEASE

This study evaluated the correlation between MR elastography (MRE) liver stiffness measurements and histologic liver fibrosis in children and young adults with autoimmune liver disease (AILD). Among 46 patients, MRE liver stiffness showed a strong positive correlation with histologic Metavir fibrosis stages (ρ = 0.68) and demonstrated better diagnostic performance for identifying advanced liver fibrosis compared to biochemical markers like APRI and FIB-4. MRE had an AUC of 0.81, indicating its effectiveness in noninvasive monitoring of liver fibrosis severity.
