CAN SALTER-HARRIS TYPE I FRACTURES BE DIAGNOSED BY ULTRASOUND

Summary

This short-cut review aimed to determine the diagnostic accuracy of ultrasound for detecting Salter-Harris type 1 fractures.

Three relevant studies were identified, and while ultrasound was found to allow visualization of these fractures, the sensitivity and specificity were not well-established. As a result, ultrasound cannot be solely relied upon to confirm or rule out the diagnosis of Salter-Harris type 1 fractures.

The review highlights the need for further research to better understand the diagnostic performance of ultrasound in this context.
