Summary
This study aimed to replicate previous experiments demonstrating the temporary suppression of visually-evoked potentials in response to ultrasound exposures in small animals, specifically targeting the lateral geniculate nucleus (LGN) in a rhesus macaque using the ExAblate Neuro system.
The researchers conducted multiple sonications at different targets with various pulse parameters and acoustic power levels. Despite their efforts, the study did not achieve the desired suppression of evoked potentials, and in some cases, induced prolonged DC shifts.
The reasons for the lack of success remain unclear, and the study highlights the challenges associated with such experiments.
