VERIFIED THROUGH ULTRASOUND: PRECISION IMAGING FOR ACCURATE DIAGNOSES

Summary

This study aimed to determine the vaccine effectiveness (VE) of the 10-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV10) against pneumonia in children aged 3-35 months using lung ultrasound. The study found that PCV10 was effective in reducing sonographically-confirmed pneumonia in vaccinated children when compared to unvaccinated children.

The VE increased with the threshold used for consolidation size on ultrasound. The study demonstrates that lung ultrasound is a useful alternative to chest X-rays for evaluating vaccine effectiveness against pneumonia.
