Efficacy of Ultrasound-Guided Pulsed Radiofrequency for Chronic Cervical Radicular Pain

Explore how ultrasound-guided selective cervical nerve root pulsed radiofrequency significantly alleviated chronic cervical radicular pain in patients.

This study evaluated the efficacy of ultrasound-guided selective cervical nerve root pulsed radiofrequency (US-SCNR PRF) treatment in 62 patients with chronic cervical radicular pain due to cervical disc herniation who did not respond to conservative therapies. Results indicated significant pain relief at 1, 3, and 6 months post-treatment, with 59.6% of patients achieving a ≥50% reduction in pain at 6 months. Functionality and neuropathic pain scores also improved significantly after 6 months. The study concluded that US-SCNR PRF is an effective, safer treatment option for patients with refractory cervical radicular pain, providing real-time visualization of cervical structures without radiation exposure.
