EFFICIENCY AND FEASIBILITY OF SEMI-AUTOMATED SOFTWARE FOR MEASURING LEFT ATRIAL VOLUME IN ROUTINE ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY IN A PEDIATRIC POPULATION

The study compared traditional manual tracing and semi-automated methods (2D speckle tracking echocardiography (STE) and 3D echocardiography (3DE)) for measuring left atrial volume (LAV) in 207 pediatric patients. Results showed that while the LAV measured by the 3DE-based method was slightly smaller than that by manual tracing, the measurement time for 3DE was similar to manual tracing and faster than STE-based methods. Both intra-observer and inter-observer reproducibility were high, with 3DE showing superior inter-observer reproducibility. The 3DE-based technique is likely to be adopted in routine examinations due to its efficiency and reliability.
