IMPLEMENTATION OF PREHOSPITAL EMERGENCY ULTRASOUND: THE SASSARI PREHOSPITAL EMERGENCY ULTRASOUND PROJECT

The Sassari Prehospital Emergency Ultrasound (SA-PEU) Project in Sardinia, Italy, partnered with Siena EMS to implement point-of-care ultrasound (PEU). An 8-hour seminar, including theoretical and hands-on training, was conducted for 50 ALS team leaders. Participants positively evaluated the seminar and collaboration, found the PEU strategy applicable and useful and felt skilled enough to use PEU immediately. This initial training approach appears effective in implementing PEU and the project will continue to evaluate clinical outcomes.
