MP48-04: Evaluating Obstruction Resolution After Pyeloplasty Using Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound

This study explores the use of dynamic contrast-enhanced ultrasound (DCEUS) to evaluate the effectiveness of pyeloplasty in treating ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO). Five adult subjects with previously obstructed kidneys underwent DCEUS alongside nuclear medicine renal scans after surgery. The results showed no significant difference in mean transit time (MTT) between normal and post-pyeloplasty kidneys, but a significant change in MTT was observed before and after the procedure. These preliminary findings suggest that DCEUS could be a promising tool for assessing pyeloplasty efficacy, warranting further investigation with a larger sample size.
