NASAL SEPTAL ABSCESS DIAGNOSED BY ULTRASOUND

A 77-year-old woman with nasal pain was diagnosed with a nasal septal abscess using ultrasonography, revealing a 1 cm mass confirmed by CT. The abscess was successfully drained, and viridans streptococci were identified as the cause. Follow-up showed resolution of the mass. Nasal septal abscesses, often due to trauma, can also arise from sinusitis or dental infections, and require prompt drainage and antibiotics to avoid serious complications.
