ADHD MEDS MAY HELP PREGNANT PATIENTS CONTROL OPIOID USE DISORDER

No results found.

Researchers at Washington University School of Medicine found that pregnant individuals with ADHD and opioid use disorder who continued ADHD medication during pregnancy adhered to opioid treatment for two months longer and had fewer substance-related ER visits than those who stopped. This study highlights the urgent need for treatment guidelines, especially as ADHD is highly correlated with substance use disorders. With opioid overdoses among pregnant people at an all-time high, this research aims to fill the knowledge gap and improve both maternal and fetal health outcomes.
