STUDY FINDS FLURBIPROFEN ESTER EFFECTIVE FOR PAIN RELIEF DURING TRANSVAGINAL 4D HYSTEROSALPINGOGRAPHY

A new study published in BIO Integration journal examines the analgesic effect of a continuous intravenous drip of flurbiprofen ester during transvaginal 4-dimensional hysterosalpingography (TVS 4D-HyCoSy). Conducted on 230 patients from May 2018 to August 2021, the study divided participants into groups based on tubal patency, flurbiprofen ester use, and uterine cannula diameter. Results showed that tubal patency reduced pain during the ultrasound tubal examination, and flurbiprofen ester significantly alleviated pain and reduced adverse effects (P < 0.001). Tube diameter did not impact procedure-related pain. Multivariable analysis indicated that flurbiprofen ester use for bilateral tubal patency provided significant pain relief within 30 minutes post-examination (AUC of 0.732). The study concludes that flurbiprofen ester is effective for pain management in TVS 4D-HyCoSy and is recommended for clinical use.
