This study compared bedside lung ultrasound with a supine chest radiograph for diagnosing and quantifying pleural effusion in pediatric patients after liver transplantation. The results showed that lung ultrasound is more sensitive (80%) and specific (90%) than chest radiographs (70% for both) in detecting pleural effusion and differentiating it from atelectasis. Ultrasound also provides valuable insights into the nature and volume of the effusion.
