Summary
This study focuses on the impact of computer-processed images in enhancing the performance of both expert radiologists and non-radiologists in the detection and classification of breast cancer using ultrasound images. A survey was conducted, presenting random ultrasound images to the subjects and collecting formal feedback through questionnaires.
The study found that the inclusion of computer-processed images alongside original ultrasound images significantly improved the perceptual tasks of non-radiologists.
However, the improvements in the perceptual and cognitive tasks of expert radiologists were only marginal. The research demonstrates the potential benefits of computer-aided diagnosis systems in assisting non-experts in breast cancer detection using ultrasound images.
