RETRACTED ARTICLE: ASSOCIATION OF SEVERITY OF CORONARY ARTERY DISEASE BY SYNTAX SCORE (SS) AND LOWER EXTREMITY ARTERIAL DISEASE BY DUPLEX ULTRASOUND (DUS) STUDY—AN INDIAN PERSPECTIVE

Coronary artery disease (CAD) and lower extremity artery disease (LEAD) often coexist, with the ankle-brachial index (ABI) being a predictor of CAD. This study assessed the severity and localization of LEAD using duplex ultrasound (DUS) in 637 subjects with confirmed CAD, finding a significant association between high SYNTAX score (SS) and LEAD, particularly in the femoropopliteal segment. The study highlights the high prevalence of asymptomatic LEAD and the need for point-of-care DUS (POCUS) to guide treatment. It is the largest study from the Indian subcontinent that used DUS for LEAD assessment in relation to CAD.
