Summary
This prospective, cross-sectional study aimed to describe the credentialing systems in North American emergency department systems (EDS) with emergency ultrasound (EUS) fellowship programs.
A web-based survey was conducted, with a 73% response rate from 54 participating programs. The results revealed significant heterogeneity in credentialing systems among EDS with EUS fellowships, with less than 20% credentialing nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and students in EUS.
The study underscores the need for standardized credentialing processes and adherence to guidelines despite the existing heterogeneity.
