ULTRASOUND-GUIDED PERCUTANEOUS TENOTOMY FOR THE TREATMENT OF ILIOPSOAS IMPINGEMENT

Summary

This article presents a novel approach for addressing groin pain caused by iliopsoas impingement following total hip replacement. While open or arthroscopic procedures are commonly used, the authors describe an alternative method using ultrasound-guided percutaneous tenotomy.

This minimally invasive technique involves a modified 18G coaxial needle, reducing the associated morbidity and costs of traditional procedures. The study reports successful outcomes with complete symptom resolution in the treated patients.

Notably, this is the first case of ultrasound-guided percutaneous iliopsoas tenotomy for iliopsoas impingement post-total hip replacement.
