UNUSUAL APPLICATION OF TWINKLING ARTIFACT

This study aimed to enhance diagnostic accuracy for small foreign bodies (FBs) in soft tissues by using color Doppler ultrasound (CDUS) and the twinkling artifact (TA). Seven adult patients with small superficial FBs (2–4 mm) not clearly visible on grayscale ultrasound underwent both grayscale and CDUS examinations. The twinkling artifact helped identify the FBs in all cases, and surgical excision confirmed their presence. The study concluded that TA is effective in locating and characterizing small subcutaneous and muscular FBs, aiding in surgical planning.
